I really appreciate your wisdom here and the sports analogy really helps it land for me. I also love your love approach to investing. I am wanting to revisit my decision making principles (maybe clarify or even intentionally define would be a better way of saying it) in light of what you’ve written. Love is one of my core values - how can I ground my decision making in it?
This also helps me cope with our VUCA world and the discomfort and pain of recent events. Things feel particularly unpredictable now - so the clearer I am on my decision making principles principles the more I will feel sovereign and less at the effect of events beyond my control.
I recommend a book called Same As Ever written by Morgan Housel. He wrote about principles that stand the test of times through all the unpredictable times.
Hello! You wrote that the world is unpredictable and that “no one can predict the future, no matter how smart or educated you think you are. Don’t try to be the smartest person in the room.” I’m thinking that you are not a fan, supporter, or participating in sports betting. Betting is making predictions and since the world is unpredictable, it’s a gamble, a gamble that will most likely not reward you.
I rarely leave things to chance when it comes to decision making, so I’m the anti-gambler. I do, however, enjoy recreational poker. And I win quite a bit. Because poker is a sport I understand and I can use principles in decision-making, not gambling.
I loved the article you wrote on principles vs predictions
It remained in my inbox, checked "unread" and starred. Whenever I peek inside again, I'm encouraged. It didn't matter to me if you were right or wrong. I just loved how you supported your claims.
BUT....
Today, I checked on Doncic's progress. You were absolutely right. You wrote your article last February 2025. This is the article I found today, almost a year since you wrote your article=
"Here's the most recent headline on the Lakers' game analysis (game was Jan 6)
"LeBron James says he needs to fit in around Luka Dončić as duo’s chemistry grows"
Now, here's James's actual statement:
“Luka don’t need to bend his game,” James said. “Luka is our (26-year-old) franchise for this ballclub. He don’t need to bend this game. It’s up to us to bend our game around him and figure it out.”
Thank you for your principled writing. You nailed it. Be well!

I’m not a basketball fan and I live in Dallas… my coworker is a Mavericks fan and he FREAKED THE (EFF) OUT about the trade. A friend of my wife invited her to a Mavericks game saying someone gave her tickets because he is no longer interested since the trade. I have no dog in the fight and I am totally perplexed.
BTW your investing style is similar to the one made popular by Wall Street legend Peter Lynch. Except that was only a starting point for him, he did a ton of research too.
My fundamental principle in decision-making is "Do the Right (Ethical) Thing." Many systems run on trust, and one must never abuse that trust, even if no one would ever find out.
Not of people love crypto and got rich with it. Not me. I don’t have an indepth understanding of crypto. It’s just in my nature to bet on things I don’t understand. I will continue to work with stocks.

ps I've loved the TED talks, too!

Apple -------> Bitcoin

You're a smart guy. You'll figure it out eventually.
Oh I know what bitcoin is and what it does, I just decide to make money in other means other than crypto.
Thank you Felix! Are you a NBA fan? Do you root for German players like Frank Wagner and Dennis Schroder?
Haha, I’m a Celtics fan…. But we can still be friends.
