Launch Day - Today, I Declare... War
July 14, 2026. Launch day for Easy Discipline.
Today, the War on Grind starts.
Throughout history, there have been two schools of achievement: the Mechanics and the Artists.
The Mechanics are goal-oriented. They start with the end in mind, then build their path back to where they are. They ask, “How much pain can I take?” Then they start swallowing pain, one task after another, like Pac-Man eating dots. Throughout the process, they keep their eyes on the prize, hoping to reach the goal before their willpower and toughness run out.
They represent Hard Discipline.
The Artists, on the other hand, do none of that. They also start with the end in mind, but when the work starts, they forget about the goal and melt themselves into it. The process is so satisfying, the craftsmanship so intoxicating, they get lost in the work. When they wake up, they find they’ve gone far beyond their initial goal, landed in a place no one thought possible, long past the point where any Mechanic would have given up.
They embody Easy Discipline.
For a long time, the world has worshipped Hard Discipline. Navy SEALs like David Goggins and Jocko Willink preach the 4:30am alarms and hundred-mile races on broken feet, and tell you to “declare war on yourself” so you can win. And here’s the honest truth: it might work in the short term. But after a while, what’s left is a trail of burned-out people who hate themselves.
Today, we rally around the Artists: the Steve Jobses, the Roger Federers, the Warren Buffetts, and the Lin-Manuel Mirandas of the world. They lead with their passions, lean on their talents, and dig into their imaginations to create history. They work as hard as anyone, but they don’t destroy themselves.
That’s a battle worth having.
If you are an Artist at heart but keep failing with Hard Discipline, join me. Reverse the grind, find your talent, build your love, and bend the universe with your gravity.
And we’ll do it with EASY.
